Join us on Thursday, May 8th for Esperanza Immigration Legal Services' (EILS) 5th annual fundraiser, Celebrating Hope for Immigrants!
It's a time for hope. A time to invest into the future of our communities. A time to show immigrants that they are valued.
EILS provides free comprehensive support and legal services to make dreams of a full life in the United States a reality for hundreds of immigrants each year. As the leading immigration legal services provider in North Philadelphia. EILS' strength is local trust and accessibility, built over 16 years of longstanding commitment to those we serve.
Celebrating Hope for Immigrants: Transforming Generations will highlight the ways in which EILS’ services so often impact the lives of not just one person, but entire families that make up our communities – across the generations.
We will hear from Neury Miguel, his mother and his grandmother, three generations transformed by the hope and agency they have as a result our services. This hope allows Neury Miguel to fulfill their greatest potential as a visual artist, tailor, entrepreneur and community advocate; and for each of them to have a good quality life.
With your support, EILS will continue to make HOPE possible for immigrants and their families. Read on to learn more about our honorees and Celebrating Hope for Immigrants performers!

EILS Champion Honoree, Ange Branca
Ange grew up helping her grandmother in the kitchen where she learned the traditional techniques of Malaysian cooking, a cuisine that bears the influence of multiple cultures. She spent the first part of her career in business consulting for international corporations like Deloitte, Fujitsu and IBM, which landed her in the US. Her nostalgia for the flavors of home, coupled with concern over what she saw as a dying appreciation for humble Malaysian food back home, inspired Ange to open Saté Kampar, a restaurant focusing on satay (skewered meat grilled over coconut shell charcoal) and traditional Malaysian cooking, made from scratch with unique ingredients. The restaurant became one of Philly’s top restaurants, named Best of Philly in 2016 for Best New BYOB and in 2017 for Best Coffee Drinks. Zagat listed Saté Kampar among the top 10 most important restaurant openings, and in 2017 Saté Kampar was nominated for the James Beard Award. Ange founded Muhibbah Dinners, a charity dinner for nonprofits in Philadelphia that work with immigrants. In 2023, the first Muhibbah Dinners post-pandemic and in March of 2025, EILS was chosen as the beneficiary organization.
